Spring is officially here and now is the time when the warm air swerves around Soho corners and when the burning sun peaks through the clouds and warms your trench-coated back. Spring is the perfect season for the Trench Coat, and saves your fashion-task filled day when leather becomes to heavy and puffed jackets have been stored away. 

We've seen it on the runways for Fall 2013 this past Fashion Week at The Blonds, Oscar De La Renta and Burberry, of course.  The one I am sporting is Armani Exchange, and is athletic-inspired equipped with mesh detailed sleeves and a collar. Its never a season too soon to sport the Trench coat, and with the multitude of details and designs today, its not a difficult task to choose one appropriate for a certain day, season or temperature.. This fashion piece is undoubtedly a year-round staple. It is also the perfect way to get our ensemble ideas brewing for Fall!

On the right side of my trend board are mood photos, representing a new take on the original trench. Recently, we have been seeing plastic Trenches, silky and shiny fabrics in analogous and cool colors. There is always an easy way to stand out a midst in the trenches!

MCM Preview

It is extremely easy to relate being at the MCM Preview to being a little girl in a candy shop. Not only were there bright colors vibrant enough to make any mouth water, but the full-blown metal studs on downtown-worthy backpacks, and a collaboration with Swarovski crystals were the perfect details to tease any sweet tooth. I am extraordinarily impressed with the path the creative direction of MCM has taken. Not only has it made the brand more enticing for youthful consumers, but it has made the MCM lifestyle completely aspirational for any age!

THE FORECAST: In Sequin Order

As seen on the runway this past New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week  at Marc Jacobs, Sachin + Babi and Ashish, sequins are the new order; on track suits, jumpers and fur wrap coats. My intuition served me right while sitting front row at Sachin + Babi, when I found that my sequin ensemble paired with metallic trousers matched the entire last part of their new line inspired by the Northern Lights.

If you find yourself at a disco this Spring, dance to a new beat and pair a big, high-end chic bag, with your most athletic look. High-tops anyone? Contrast the extremes, and score points out on the fashion field!

The Color Purple

When I am experiencing a case of the winter blues, I turn to the color purple. Whether it be on my lips or on my jumpsuit, it surreptitiously reminds me that the beautiful Spring weather is just around the corner. For this ensemble I added a bright, color-popping handbag by the beautiful designer line Etienne Aigner. This melon color is sure to stand out of the streets, just in time for the new temperature and season!

Kurt Geiger Tea Party & Preview on Bleecker

Women of all ages, careers, social statuses, and fashionability.... Introducing Kurt Geiger London, now open on Bleecker Street! The press preview included a posh, decadent tea party filled with hot toddies, scones, pastries and the ever-so-enticing shelves of Kurt Geiger shoes and accessories. I had the pleasure of meeting and sitting down with Sara McConnachie, director of press for Kurt Geiger, and Christina Zervanos of Launch Squad to discuss the creative direction and message behind the KG ad campaign ft. top model Anja Rubik, which inspires, "Everything but the dress".

There is no doubt that this brand has been successful in expanding their creative direction, intentionally creating styles for all women, from studded-detailed high tops, to pencil-stiletto Mary Janes, to neon lace  platforms, with price points that will not break your budget. The most exciting part of the new store on Bleecker, has got to be the candy-like shoe chandelier hanging in the front window. Whatever your cup of tea, Kurt Geiger has got the look for you!
