Joe Mimram for JOE FRESH

Joe Fresh held an event for Fashion Institute of Technology students on 5th avenue including 25% off discounts and orange bubbly sodas. Shoppers and students perused and mingled while listening to beats guest-deejayed by NYLON’s own, Digital Director, Faran Krentcil. Faran and I caught up behind her booth, and enjoyed seeing such enthusiasm throughout the store!

Joe Mimran is a Canadian fashion designer whose flagship store on 5th avenue opened in Fall 2011, with its signature orange colors and affordable basic and staple pieces. The friendly, welcoming staff will be sure to guide you to your favorite tangerine-striped khaki dress this Spring. Check it out!

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK F/W 2012

                                                   RICHARD CHAI

By far, my favorite show and collection from this Fashion Week! It reminded me of A German army straight out of the 70s. Not only was I blown away by the contrast in textiles ranging from Southwestern wools and leathers, to subtle silks and sheers, but by the masculine structures and silhouettes that graced such feminine ensembles. The minute I saw the wide-legged, pastel sheer-pants, I knew Richard Chai was on to a fresh genius trend.

Not to mention the show opener:  Remember the TV show, Charmed ? (Alyssa Milano, 3 witch sisters?) You better believe it. It was only my favorite TV show at 8 years old. It was that old-school theme song cover, mashed up with the original- How soon is now? by The Smiths.
Bravo, Mr. Chai.

TRACY REESE

Culture? Check. Use of Interiors? Check. Baroque/Bohemian Attitude? Check! I was not only wowed by the brights and burgundies at Reese’s show, but by her inspirational vision board so clearly mounted, to serve as the beautiful backdrop for her entire collection! This was a fun show to experience, and the energy of the décor brought life to the ensembles. My favorite accents of all, were the equestrian-like ball caps  Reese so creatively garnished almost each outfit with.
