TRENDING: Comic Book Club

The Comic Book Club is calling all #nerds. Dare to wear your brightest ketchup & mustard colors without fear of rejection this fall season. Check out 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, which recently hit stores on September 15 to discover hidden gems that remind you of the comic book tears that sculpted your imagination throughout your childhood.

Followed by my photos is a glimpse of the WGSN Retail Collection Review for the launch of 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target, that I was fortunate enough to have published through assisting WGSN's Associate Editor of Retail, Aria Hughes! It was a unique opportunity that I am forever grateful for. Not only did this report have me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the collection, but I gained valuable knowledge from an extremely reputable and experienced professional in the field of Trend Forecasting.

THE FORECAST: Queen of Coney Island; Ode to Summer 2013

Heels courtesy of Nine West // Shorts by Jennifer Lopez via Kohls // Cropped top by Bar III via Macy's // Fedora by Target // Bracelets by Charming Charlie // Lucite Sunglasses courtesy of Kurt Geiger

Summer is finally here, and it is finally the time to add freedom into our hearts and wardrobes! What are you craving this summer? Aside from creating whimsical amusement park memories that felt like they could have been straight out of my summer books, I am craving the vagabond, exotic side of my self, which can only be exuded through colorful tropical prints on trouser shorts, and this season's most sought after cropped tops and colorful heels, vicariously dressing me for a passport to travel the world... Inspired by runway looks in order from top, Calvin Klein, BCBG, Christian Dior, Chanel and Sachin + Babi, as well as 1940s & 50s swimsuits trends.

With 100 degree heat that creeps into New York City, it always allows room for escape; to Coney Island, new cities and places, and new street corners of our style. To put an extra hop and a skip into my Coney Island adventure, which happened to be one of the top things on my summer adventures list, I added these beautiful poppy-pink heels from Nine West, perfect for taking a new risk into my undiscovered vagabond-self.

Whatever you crave, be sure to live it and wear it in your everyday lives! I am certainly allowing my summer plans and careers to cross-coordinate to ensure a summer filled with new people, places, experiences and trends.

 My Summer 2013 Adventures List:
-Coney Island
-Nice, France
-The Hamptons

THE FORECAST: Dirty Laundry

Paul and Joe Paris blazer c/o Caro Marketing // Vince Camuto bag c/o DBA // Iris Apfel for HSN gold bangle c/o DBA // Nine West heels // Express shorts // H&M earrings // Vintage blouse

Make doing laundry a not-so-daunting task by dressing for the occasion... (I mean chore). One of my favorite trends is the Pajamas trend...

On the runway, We've seen a lot of silk and chiffon trousers, blouses and blazers displaying outlandish repeat-patterns, tending to give us that nostalgic cozy feeling, making us want to never leave our beds; or get our chores done!

Take this trend to the streets and stay comfortable-chic while gaining inspiration from the the designers I posted above on my Trend Board: Rochas, Prada, Miu Miu and Roberto Cavalli can get you through any exhausting day, by keeping you cozy-cool in the City That Never Sleeps.
This trend is sleep-deprivation-approved.

THE FORECAST: Monsters Inc.

Aryn K Sweater c/o Caro Marketing // Zara hat // Vintage Sequin Mini Dress // Cole Haan Boots

THE FORECAST: Monsters Inc.
Fall = Playtime! Don't let Novelty-Yarn knits scare you away with packed shine, glossy color, beautiful fur, or knit-detailed sleeves. These fancy sweaters have the perfect amount of punch and glam, especially for the Holidays right around the corner! Can you say, cozy-chic?

I paired my Aryn K sweater with a vintage, teal-blue sequin mini dress that I found in Pittsburgh. This dress serves as the perfect skirt to balance out any high-shine threads. Put a spin of monstrosity on your already editorial, outlandish look, by adding a furry friend on top. See Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 ad campaign, top right

INSPIRATION: Above Runway photos are (from top left to bottom right) Diane Von Furstenburg, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, The Row, Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 ad campaign mood photo (top right), and Sully from Monsters Inc.

THE FORECAST: Fitzgerald Fields Forever

I am wearing: Paul and Joe green suede blazer // Aryn K Sequin top // Aryn K maxi skirt // Lancaster leopard bag c/o Caro MarketingMy closet favorites:  Kensie biker leggings // Cole Haan boots // LF sunglasses

The Forecast: Fitzgerald Fields Forever

With sequins on this rise these past few seasons, they have become one of my favorite staples and main characteristics of my style. What a refreshing statement they make when paired correctly with some of the most masculine, menswear peices on the racks.

For Fitzgerald Fields, I was inspired by one of my favorite books, and soon-to-be most popular movies to premiere in Spring 2013, The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. I wanted to pair together  two standout trends from the 1920s to create a roaring masterpiece: flapper sequins and a menswear suit  blazer  with an  added touch of quirky-green suede.

One of my favorite trips of this beautiful Fall season was to Sleepy Hollow in West Chester, New York, where I spent the day with my best friends on my birthday. I couldn't help but contain my excitement for nature and fields when we came across this awesome shooting location. Definitely a rejuvenating escape from the concrete jungle of NYC.

This forecast will  truly exude your inner Daisy Buchanan mashed with Jay Gatsby swagger, just in time for the premiere of the 21st century.
