JET SET- NASSAU, BAHAMAS RESORT COVERAGE for MANIAC Magazine May/June 2012

Jet Set-Nassau Bahamas for MANIAC Magazine

Each Issue of MANIAC, we have a jet set feature, and for May/June 2012, we left our souls in our beloved cities and jet setted to Nassau, Bahamas to cover the legendary Compass Point Resort. Unlike any resort I have experienced, Compass Point was a complete hidden gem made up of cobble-stone pathways leading to fifteen different quaint and charming pastel-colored bungalows on stilts. This resort also included a beachside restaurant that was open from sunrise to sunset serving island delicacies such as Stuffed Whole Snapper topped with Avocado and Roasted Corn Salad, Tuna Steak and Wahoo Steak Served over Orzo Paella.

The words to describe our visit to this island are one-of-kind.Our experiences were packed with the most genuine and humble bahamian people, bus trips to Arawalk fish fry and downtown Nassau, conch salad stands filled with straight-from-the-sea natural ingredients and coconuts ready to be sliced for the freshest coconut water I have ever tasted, all day jet-skiing on the breathtaking waters, paddle boarding, and last but not least, getting aquainted with the island people by hopping on the back of their motorcycles; giving us a captivating tour of one of my new favorite places.

Compass Point Resort is a legend. Its musical roots extend further than one can imagine. Chris Blackwell, founder and owner of Island Records, opened Compass Point Resort for the musicians that would record just a mere distance away down the street. Compass Point Studios was opened in 1977, and the famous artists that set foot in that studio were known to have recorded some of the most chart-topping albums known in musical history. Such musicians that recorded there while staying at Compass Point, were Bob Marley, Celine Dion, Shikira, David Bowie, Jimmy Buffet, Puff Daddy and many more. Blackwell set out to scuplt a resort for artists, that would serve as their home-away-from-home, while recording for months on end. Unfortunately, Islands Records closed down two years ago, and Compass Point has remained and reopened as a public resort. My experiences on this island have opened my eyes to new people, new culture and customs, as well as new fashion.

My inspiration for all of my ensembles on this trip was to be living as an island disco girl, inspired by all of the bright colors in the Bahamas, mixed with my day-to-day glamour. This vacation will always be remembered as one of my favorites and one of my most fashionable.

Check out our video recorded above, of our adventures on this beautiful island (speakers on) ^

Marie Claire Student Style Ambassador

Since being selected to be a Marie Claire Student Style Ambassador, I have received beauty products to feature on my blog, such as this N.Y.C. Fashion Avenue Fuchsia lipgloss. Ironically enough, the same week I received this lipgloss in the mail, my school newspaper, W27 at FIT, asked me to be the face of their beauty cover for the April Issue. I instantly thought that this was the perfect opportunity to feature and model this lipgloss, being FIT is located on Fashion Avenue, (7th and 27th street). My feature in the April Issue of W27 reads,

"Marie Claire's Student Style Ambassador and current FIT Student Kelsey Panicco wears Liquid Lipshine Fashion Avenue Fuchsia #579, and FIT-inspored lip gloss by New York Color. The Pink shade is on trend this season and compliments any color you choose to wear."

My favorite thing about Fashion Avenue Fuchsia, has been its awesome, vibrant-pink color, that has made my green eyes pop! It has incredile shine, a hint of sparkle, and honestly enhances any color I choose to wear. I have received so many compliments while wearing this dashing lip color!

Disco Panicco

This look I am sporting contains all of the aspects of a night at the Disco. The ball-like graphic prints on the Ainsley shorts remind of a 70s party with lava lamps. The fun, bright colors enhance my blue sequin jacket, from Forever 21. To keep this ensemble looking fit for daytime, I added my ivory colored, beaded sheer bodysuit from Victoria's Secret. I just purchased my new favorite, over-sized chain link bracelett by Vince Camuto. He has an awesome jewelry line that has swept through Macys! I love to dance, so my friends call me Disco Panicco.  I knew the name would be perfect for my dance-party inspired outfit.

Check out my showroom visit below, to Qi/Ainsley Showroom, where I pulled some must have pieces with my close friend, Freddy Rodriguez of Blue Perk.

AINSLEY SHOWROOM

Thanks to the wonderul Kosi, Marketing Manager at Qi/Ainsley showroom, our visit was filled with mimosas and knitwear! Kosi informed us of Ainsley's direct theme for Fall 2012, which happens to be an unforgettable Western Roadtrip. A pure goldrush to the heart, if you ask me. I love all western looks and textures, and the knitwear we went through on the racks not only had the bullet and horse prints to prove it, but the cashmere threads as well.

About Ainsley
A collection of limited-edition pieces centered
on modern design and sustainability,
rather than a reflection on current trends,
Ainsley is always seeing the new while
retaining a respect for the past.

Meet The Designers of Costello Tagliapietra

The last week of April, I was invited to cover the press preview of the C&T collection by Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra, for W27 Newspaper. All I can say is when I walked in, I was instantly greeted by the two most adorable, geniune men with beards. Alongside their Spring/Summer collection, C&T for Barneys, we chatted about the vast reasons for their love of burnt orange shades, and extreme silhouette and draping.

"One of the things we set out to do, was to do someting that wasn't the typical diffusion line. We really wanted to have the same essence and the same energy as Costello Tagliapietra."
As the designers and I chatted why we love burnt orange, I pondered that this diverse shade may be questionable to many, but always happens to be spotted in a crowd. C&T 2012 will be their second collection at Barneys, with the intent to be a more affordable, ready-to-wear line with just as much punch of color as these two mens' personalities. Thank you  Mr. Costello and Mr. Tagliapietra! Be sure to check out a sneak peak from the video below.
